Duct Evaluation

GLOBAL HVAC EVALUATION

Prior to starting any work on your homes heating and air conditioning system a
careful inspection should be carried out. An inspection by an Aeroseal-montreal representative would include but not be limited to the following.

Inspect the whole duct system, including attic, basement, garage and crawlspaces.
Evaluate the system’s supply and return air balance. Many systems have air return ducts that are too small.

Look for damaged and disconnected ducts and flexible ducts that are tangled or crushed.
Check for signs of duct leakage, verify which leaks can be sealed with an aerosol-based sealant and which would require repair first. Aeroseal seals up to a 5/8” hole.
Inspect registers where they enter the living space for tightness and security.
Determine if any ducts pass through uninsulated areas such as attics and
crawlspaces and require insulation.
With the system fan on, verify airflow to all the registers and returns. No airflow to one register could indicate a blockage, disconnected duct or a closed damper. Poor airflow.
